Log cabin sizes: kits for dealers and private buyers

Eurodita log cabin kits are catalogued by external size, and this page sorts them that way. It covers these ranges: garden log cabins, summer houses with the corner models, garden rooms, garden offices and workshop log cabins. Leaving the two children's playhouses aside, the ranges of this page hold 79 models in 34 different external sizes, and 43 of those models stand at the eight sizes on this page, from 3 x 3 m to 6 x 4 m. All dimensions are external. Every order is quoted in writing.

This page is for private buyers in the United Kingdom and for dealers. It names the models at each size, with the wall profile and the ridge height on the data sheet of each, and says how other sizes are quoted. Eurodita is a manufacturer in Lithuania, with manufacturing experience since 1994.

Log cabin sizes in metres and feet

The table counts the models of these ranges: garden log cabins, summer houses with the corner summer houses and log cabins, garden rooms, garden offices and workshop log cabins. A model can stand in more than one range and is counted once.

The sizes in feet are plain conversions of the metric size, at about 3.28 ft to the metre and rounded to the nearest whole foot. The catalogue size is the metric one. A profile is written thickness first and log height second, for example 44 x 130 mm. The ridge heights below are the figures on the data sheets; the data sheet of each model is on its product page.

3x3 log cabins and summer houses

Nine models measure 3 x 3 m, about 10 x 10 ft. One is the Log Cabin Ringwood, catalogued in 28 x 100 mm wall logs, five are corner log cabins and three are workshop log cabins.

4x3 log cabins, summer houses and garden rooms

Nine models measure 4 x 3 m, about 13 x 10 ft. Five stand in the garden log cabins and summer houses ranges, and four in the garden rooms and garden offices ranges.

4x4 log cabins and workshop log cabins

Four models measure 4 x 4 m, about 13 x 13 ft, all catalogued in 28 x 100 mm wall logs. The garden rooms range holds no model of exactly 4 x 4 m; its models at 4 x 3.83 m and 4 x 4.8 m are named further down.

5x3 log cabins and summer houses

Four models measure 5 x 3 m, about 16 x 10 ft. One of them carries a veranda in its name.

5x4 log cabins and garden rooms

Eight models measure 5 x 4 m, about 16 x 13 ft. All eight stand in the garden rooms range, and four of them also in the garden offices range.

5x5 log cabins

Two models measure 5 x 5 m, about 16 x 16 ft. Both stand in the garden log cabins and garden rooms ranges.

6x3 log cabins and summer houses

Two models measure 6 x 3 m, about 20 x 10 ft. Both stand in the garden log cabins and summer houses ranges.

6x4 log cabins and garden rooms

Five models measure 6 x 4 m, about 20 x 13 ft. All five stand in the garden rooms range, and three of them also in the garden offices range.

Small log cabins: under 3 x 3 m

Nine models of these ranges have a smaller external footprint than 3 x 3 m, from 2 x 2 m (about 7 x 7 ft) to 3.5 x 2.5 m (about 11 x 8 ft).

Large log cabins: over 6 x 4 m

Apart from the two models of 5 x 5 m, which stand in their own section above, two models of these ranges have a larger external footprint than 6 x 4 m. Larger buildings stand in the residential and glulam ranges.

Sizes between the eight: further log cabin sizes

The other 36 models of these ranges stand at 26 further external sizes; the small and the large ones are listed above. Sizes between the eight above include Atlanta (3.8 x 3.2 m), Sherborne (4.5 x 3 m), and Theo and Weymouth (5.5 x 4 m).

Sizes with a veranda or a terrace

James and Thomas (4 x 4.8 m) and Jacob (4 x 3.83 m) have a roofed veranda at the front, and the external size stated includes it. Everwood measures 5 x 4.3 m and has a terrace of 1.5 m in addition to its external size.

A log cabin in another size

The ranges of this page hold no model of 6 x 5 m or 6 x 6 m. These and other sizes are quoted as bespoke projects. Send a hand-drawn plan with wall thickness, floor and bearers, ridge height, openings and overall sizes with the enquiry.

Ranges that are not on this page

This page leaves out gazebos, pergolas, carports, garages, sheds and playhouses, and the residential, glulam and mobile ranges. They are on their own pages: garden sheds, garages, carports and gazebos, residential log cabins, glulam homes and mobile log homes and lodges in glulam.

Wall thickness by size

The catalogue records a wall profile for each model, not for a size; the table and the lists above give it. At 4 x 3 m, for example, one model is catalogued in 34 x 100 mm, six in 44 x 130 mm and two with a twin-skin wall; at 5 x 4 m six are catalogued in 44 x 130 mm and two with a twin-skin wall.

A solid log model can be made in any of the 28, 34, 44, 58 and 70 mm profiles, and the profile is confirmed in the written quotation. The wall profile is chosen per project, by budget and technical feasibility. The twin-skin wall of 44-100-44 mm is a 44 mm outer skin, a 100 mm cavity and a 44 mm inner skin, 188 mm in total; see the twin-skin cabins page and the page on 44 mm walls.

What the kit holds and what stays on the buyer's side

A cabin kit holds machined wall logs in the profile on the order, floor bearers and 28 mm floorboards, roof structure and roof boards, timber windows and doors, and the storm brace and anchor set. The order drawings, specification and packing list are the record of what an order holds; see what is in a Eurodita kit.

  • Base: it is built locally from the footprint and drawings for the order, and the base type and size are confirmed for the specific model and site.
  • Foundations, utilities and approvals: on the buyer's side unless agreed otherwise.
  • Installation: it is agreed per project. Unless installation is agreed for the project, assembly is by the buyer's own builder or local crew from the order drawings.
  • Delivery: it is agreed individually with each client, and the quotation states the delivery term. Unloading is the buyer's responsibility.

Log cabin cost by size: how an order is quoted

Eurodita publishes no price list. Every order is quoted in writing, in EUR excluding VAT and delivery. A written quotation is valid for 30 days from its date, and within that period the quoted price is not raised because the cost of timber has risen.

Who can buy a log cabin from Eurodita

Eurodita makes kits for dealers, distributors and private-label brands. For smaller garden buildings the supply route is confirmed project by project; garden building retailers can sell the finished building under their own name. Larger residential homes are also quoted directly to private clients. Every order is quoted in writing.

For trade buyers

Quotations, drawings and documentation can carry the partner's brand, as agreed per order. See the dealer programme.

Questions buyers ask about log cabin sizes

What sizes do log cabins come in?

Leaving the playhouses aside, the garden log cabins, summer houses, garden rooms, garden offices and workshop log cabins ranges hold 79 models in 34 external sizes. Of these, 43 models stand at eight sizes: nine at 3 x 3 m, nine at 4 x 3 m, four at 4 x 4 m, four at 5 x 3 m, eight at 5 x 4 m, two at 5 x 5 m, two at 6 x 3 m and five at 6 x 4 m. Other sizes are quoted as bespoke projects.

Are log cabin dimensions external or internal?

External. Stated dimensions are external dimensions, on this page and on the data sheet of every model. The base is built locally from the footprint and drawings for the order, and the base type and size are confirmed for the specific model and site.

What is a 4x3 or 5x4 log cabin in feet?

As a plain conversion rounded to the nearest whole foot, 4 x 3 m is about 13 x 10 ft, 5 x 4 m about 16 x 13 ft and 6 x 4 m about 20 x 13 ft; 3 x 3 m is about 10 x 10 ft, 5 x 3 m about 16 x 10 ft and 6 x 3 m about 20 x 10 ft. The catalogue size is the metric one.

Does the size of a log cabin include a veranda or terrace?

It depends on the model. The external size of James, Thomas (4 x 4.8 m) and Jacob (4 x 3.83 m) includes their roofed veranda. Everwood measures 5 x 4.3 m and has a terrace of 1.5 m in addition to its external size. The order drawings show the building as it will be machined.

Can a log cabin be made in another size?

Other sizes are quoted as bespoke projects, and every order is quoted in writing.

What wall thickness do log cabins of each size have?

The catalogue records a wall profile for each model, not for a size. At the eight sizes of this page the models are catalogued in 28 x 100 mm, 34 x 100 mm or 44 x 130 mm solid logs, or with a 44-100-44 mm twin-skin wall. At 5 x 4 m, for example, six models are catalogued in 44 x 130 mm and two with a twin-skin wall. A solid log model can be made in any of the 28, 34, 44, 58 and 70 mm profiles, and the profile is confirmed in the written quotation.

Do I need planning permission for a log cabin?

In England, a garden log cabin required for a purpose incidental to the enjoyment of the house can fall under Class E of Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (S.I. 2015/596): a single storey, eaves no higher than 2.5 m, and an overall height of no more than 4 m with a dual-pitched roof, 2.5 m within 2 m of the boundary, or 3 m in any other case. It must not stand forward of the principal elevation of the house, and buildings other than the original house may cover no more than half of the land around it. Class E does not permit a verandah, balcony or raised platform, and on designated land or at a listed building permission can be needed. Your local planning authority confirms the position for your plot.

How much does a log cabin of a given size cost?

Eurodita publishes no price list. Every order is quoted in writing, in EUR excluding VAT and delivery. A written quotation is valid for 30 days from its date, and within that period the quoted price is not raised because the cost of timber has risen.

Who assembles a log cabin, and who builds the base?

Installation is agreed per project. Unless it is agreed for the project, assembly is by the buyer's own builder or local crew from the order drawings. Foundations, utilities and approvals are on the buyer's side unless agreed otherwise.
