Why an L-shaped layout belongs in a dealer range
A rectangular cabin suits most gardens. Some sites do not. An awkward boundary, a mature tree or an existing outbuilding can leave no room for a long rectangle. An L-shaped log cabin wraps around the obstacle instead. It also separates two uses under one roof: an office wing and a storage wing, or a living space and a bedroom.
For a dealer, the L-shape keeps an enquiry alive. The customer who cannot place a standard model still wants a timber building. A dealer that can offer a custom layout holds on to that customer. This article explains how Eurodita handles L-shaped layouts, what the dealer sends, and what comes back.
How Eurodita treats an L-shaped layout
Eurodita manufactures timber building kits at the Eurodita factory in Lithuania and has done so since 1994. It supplies dealers, distributors, garden centres, park operators, developers and private-label brands. The dealer sets its own price, runs its own sales process and keeps its own customer.
An L-shaped layout that the catalogue does not cover is bespoke work. Eurodita quotes it from the partner's sketch or drawing. A sketch can start the discussion. Production does not begin from an unapproved concept. The buyer approves the drawings, the specification, the quotation, the branding scope and the written terms first. Which wall profiles can an L-shaped cabin use?
Any approved wall profile can be specified on any model, and a bespoke layout follows the same rule. The families are set out on wall profiles.
- Solid timber: 19x100, 28x100, 34x100, 44x130, 58x130 and 70x130 mm. For one-off bespoke work the solid range starts at 28 mm. Custom 19 mm is a mass-production route only.
- Glulam: 70x130, 88x260, 135x260, 180x260 and 220x260 mm. The Dovetail corner system is available on the 88 to 220 mm profiles.
- Twin-skin: 44-50-44, 44-100-44, 58-50-58 and 58-100-58 mm, with the cavity prepared for insulation bought locally.
Profiles are written thickness first, so a 44x130 mm log gives a 44 mm wall. A 35 mm wall does not exist; the profile is 34x100 mm. The figures 45, 68 and 92 are the IV45, IV68 and IV92 window and door systems, not wall thicknesses.
The corner matters more on an L-shape than on a rectangle. There are more corners, and one of them is internal. On solid log buildings the standard corner is the interlocking joint, where the logs of two walls overlap and lock. On glulam 88 to 220 mm the dovetail corner can be specified instead. The enquiry should name both the profile and the corner type.
What the dealer sends
An L-shaped enquiry can be quoted without a clarification round when it carries the following.
- A sketch or drawing of the footprint, with each wing as external length by width. Every dimension Eurodita states is external, and a terrace is stated as its own figure.
- The wall family and the profile written in full, for example 58x130 mm or 58-100-58 mm. For 70x130 mm, state solid or glulam.
- The corner type for glulam 88 to 220 mm: dovetail or standard.
- Joinery on its own line: IV45, IV68 or triple-glazed IV92 windows and doors, timber sliding or bifold doors, or aluminium sliding systems.
- The roof form for each wing and where the two roofs meet.
- Finish: untreated by default, or factory painting requested as an option with limited capacity.
- Destination country and intended use, so documentation can be confirmed for that order.
- Quantity: single unit, pilot unit or programme volume.

What comes back on an L-shaped brief
Once the brief is qualified, the partner receives a package generated from one configuration.
- 3D visual renders of the configured building.
- 2D CAD floor-plan drawings.
- Side and elevation drawings with dimensions.
- A technical project specification.
- A window and door schedule.
- A commercial quotation.
- The package as a branded PDF, under the partner's identity where agreed.
The quotation is written, in EUR, excluding VAT and delivery. The default delivery basis is EXW Eurodita factory; DAP is agreed per order and DDP case by case. What is in the kit, and what is not
An L-shaped cabin leaves the factory as a flat-packed kit, like every Eurodita building. The kit carries machined wall logs with corners, joints and openings cut in. It also carries floor bearers and floorboards, the roof structure and roof boards, timber joinery and the storm brace and anchor set. Wall logs are cut on Hundegger CNC lines from kiln-dried Nordic spruce and pine. The crew on site lays courses rather than cutting timber. The full list is on what is in a Eurodita kit.
Insulation material, roof covering, foundations, utilities, paint and interior fit-out are not in the kit unless ordered. Installation is agreed per project. Assembly is by the dealer's own crew or the customer's local builder. Structural calculations, where a project needs them, are carried out by external specialist partners.
Selling the L-shape well
Three habits keep an L-shaped sale clean.
- Measure the site before the sketch. Note the boundary, the trees and the access route. The wings then fit the plot, instead of the plot being forced around the wings.
- Agree the use of each wing early. An office wing and a storage wing need different openings and different joinery. The window and door schedule follows from this decision.
- Present the 3D visual, not a description. The customer sees the internal angle, the sheltered corner and the roof junction before committing. Where agreed, the visual carries the dealer's own brand.
Keep performance claims out of the pitch. A wall thickness on its own establishes no thermal, fire or structural performance. Where a project needs figures, the local designer calculates them from the order drawings and the chosen insulation.
Commercial shape of a bespoke L-shaped order
A trade relationship usually starts with one building, and a single pilot unit is accepted practice. There is no fixed minimum order across the range. The 58 and 70 mm profiles, glulam and bespoke designs can be single projects. The 19 to 44 mm standard ranges are volume-driven and are discussed as a programme quantity. Eurodita applies no standing discounts and no price scale by quantity. The dealer sets its own retail position; no margins or resale prices are published.
